The Student Village Network user register.

Purpose of processing personal data

Logs are generated from the use of the Student Village Network, which can be identified up to the point of the network wall socket in a particular dwelling, diagnostic information is used to take care for the security, monitoring telecommunication capacity, the technical development of the service and the prevention and detection of faults (Information Society Framework (917/2014) 138§, 141§, 144§, 272§). The logs are kept for the time needed for these purposes and is not used for any other purposes.

The Turku Student Village Foundation provides an updated list of residents on a daily basis in order to obtain the contact information needed to resolve disturbances and malfunctions. Residential information is not used for other purposes and the old versions of the list will be destroyed.

Data content of the register

The list of residents from Turku Student Village Foundation contains the following information:

  • contract number, contract start and end of contract
  • personal identification number
  • first and last names
  • contact information (email address, phone number, installation address)
  • academy
  • the beginning of the lease and the termination date of the lease

The log entries of the technical usage data include:

  • IP address
  • MAC address
  • unique device identifiers
  • dynamic IP address
  • the date and time of the start and end of the Internet connection
  • manual listing of location information (address, dwelling destination, dwelling number, network connector number).
  • traffic volumes automatically

Regular sources of information

An up-to-date list of residents is obtained from the Turku Student Village Foundation’ residency register every day. University does not verify the correctness of this personal data.
Technical data is collected automatically.

Ordinary deliveries of data and transfer of data outside the EU and EEA

Information will not be disclosed outside the University.
University of Turku may only disclose information to third parties on the basis of a statutory duty of notification or assignment.

Data is not transmitted outside the EU or EEA.

University of Turku follows generally accepted industry standards and maintains reasonable safeguards to attempt to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of the information in University’s possession. The obligation of confidentiality binds employees dealing with personal data.

Right of access, inspection, correction and objection as well as other rights related to the processing of personal data

As a Student Village Network user you have the right to inspect your personal information, request access to your personal data, request correction or deletion of such information as well as request to limit and reject the processing.

Student Village Network users who would like to see their personally identifiable information may contact person responsible of the register.

No confidential or sensitive information is stored.

You have the right to appeal to the supervisory authority.
